5 Things Stylish Women Never Do
Like wear something just because it’s trendy
You know those women who always look put together? Who wear pieces you’d never wear at the same time--but still look amazing? While you can’t always decipher their exact magical secret, you can follow their lead and avoid these five sins of styling.
Follow a trend just because
It seems like every other week there’s a new “it” item. Stylish women, you’ll notice, never feel beholden to a particular fad. So don’t feel like you have to get on board every trend, because every trend doesn’t suit every woman. Even if the world is obsessed with matching crop-top sets, you be the judge of whether it’s right for you. If you're into it, though, go forth.
Dress for other people
Women who really love fashion dress to please themselves, not those around them. (And especially not for men.) Stylish gals use fashion as a form of expression, and dress the way they dress because it makes them happy. It's kind of like the Marie Kondo philosophy: If an item of clothing--say, a teal jumpsuit with a rope belt--brings you joy, you should wear it regardless of whether or not other people would.
Wear clothes that don't fit properly
Fashion-forward ladies recognize the value of a good tailor. A few seemingly insignificant alterations can be the difference between meh and wow . Yes, it costs more money than wearing things straight off the rack, but in the long run, it’s worth it to have fewer pieces that fit like a glove than a ton of pieces that don’t hang quite right.
Wear clothes they don't feel totally comfortable in
If you’re going to be squirming around in an outfit you’re not feeling your best in, you might as well not wear it. If you feel uncomfortable in something, chances are it’s going to show on your face and in your body language. If you're even a little bit hesitant about how an ensemble makes you feel, it's probably best to skip it altogether, lest you get 20 minutes into your day before realizing you're going to spend all your energy focusing on how your arms look.
Treat their clothes poorly
You know when you get home after a long day and change into your pajamas only to toss the day’s clothes in a pile on some chair in your room (or worse, the floor)? That’s something any self-respecting fashionista would never do. She values her wardrobe too much. That means always hanging things up or folding them neatly to avoid wrinkles or any other damage. Especially if you’re spending extra to have clothes tailored to your body, it’s wise to treat them with respect.
